Summary

This qualification covers a range of basic tasks and underpinning knowledge involved in electrical installation. All teaching will take place in our fully equipped workshops, laboratories and classrooms under guidance from qualified and experienced staff. Your course will be made up of units which will likely be; Structure of the construction industry, fundamental safe working practices, environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings, site preparation for working in the construction industry, electrical installation wiring and terminations. fabrication techniques for electrical installation and electrical science and technology.
Good English and Maths skills are essential for most jobs and courses you will progress onto. The construction industry in East Anglia is expanding at a fast rate, over the next 5 years it is expected to grow by 14% offering a good range of job opportunities across the sector.

Entry Requirements

Achieve GCSE English Language and maths at grade 3 or above.

Assessment

Assessment is usually through assignments throughout the year.

Progression

On successful completion of this course with a good attendance and behaviour record and reference from your course leader, you could progress onto Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation. You could also consider an Apprenticeship.

Career Progression

The qualification will allow you to progress into employment, although not as a fully qualified electrician but at an Improver/Electrician's Mate level. In order to fully qualify as an Electrician you will need to complete a Level 3 qualification either College or work based. Fees

If you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 years and over please contact the Advice Shop In addition to this there will be costs for Uniform of steel toe capped boots, trousers and logo shirt. Approximate costs £40.
