Summary
This course builds on Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation, where you will learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electrotechnology sector.
All teaching will take place in our fully equipped workshops, laboratories and classrooms under guidance from qualified and experienced staff. Your course will be made up of units which will likely be: Health and safety in building services engineering, principles and requirements of environmental technology systems, principles of electrical science, machines, devices and systems and electrical installations: fault diagnosis and rectification.
Electrical Installations units include: inspection, testing and commissioning, Electrical systems design and career awareness in building services engineering. Please note this qualification will not make you a fully qualified electricians. When you have successfully completed this qualification you will be at an Improver/Electrician's Mate level.

Entry Requirements
Progression only from Electrotechnical Technology Diploma Level 2.
Assessment
Assessment takes a variety of forms including online multiple choice text and practical assignments.
Progression
You will be able to progress onto an Apprenticeship where you will be able to complete Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Technology. On completion of this qualification you will be a fully qualified electrician.
Career Progression
The qualification will allow you to progress into employment, although not as a fully qualified electrician but at an Improver/Electrician's Mate level. In order to fully qualify as an Electrician you will need to complete a work based qualification, Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Technology. Fees
If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 and over please contact the Advice Shop. All students will be required to have: Uniform of steel top capped boots, trousers and logo shorts. Total cost approximately £40. A copy of IET Wiring Regulations 17th Edition (BS 7671:2008 incorporating amendment number 3:2015) which can be obtained from the IET and other retailers.
