Summary
The course is designed as a 'step into college' programme, which is about supporting individuals in developing their personal and social skills, while studying their chosen vocation, which in this case is Sport. This small group provision introduces students to the college setting as well as to the Sport, Outdoor Leadership and Uniformed Services department, whilst also developing transferable skills which can be used in employment and independent living. The students study programme will include:
- Entry 3 Sport Qualification
- Entry 3 Employability Qualification
- English and/ or Maths at GCSE or Functional Skills
- Academic Tutorial
- Personal Development
- Community Project.
This course is ideal for someone that is looking to progress to a higher qualification in the future, but may have individual reasons why they may not have achieved formal qualifications or potentially not feel ready for large group, mainstream college qualifications.

Experience Adventure
Each year our Outdoor Leadership students complete a 48 hour bush craft survival assessment and an expedition that has seen them travel the width of the country on bikes they built themselves.
Entry Requirements
This course has no formal entry requirements. However, students will be individually assessed through the following methods to ensure that this programme is the right option for them:
- Interview
- Taster Day
- 2 x References
- 1 x Summer Task
Assessment
You will be assessed through a variety of methods for internally assessed mandatory and optional units. Assessment methods could include assignments, research projects, presentations, role plays, group discussions and participation in team activities.
Progression
On successful completion all elements of the Study Programme, students will have the opportunity to progress to a suitable course within the college. Students will need to meet the entry qualifications for their chosen course progression and have a good assignment, behaviour and attendance record.
Career Progression
Throughout your time at Easton, the course aims to:
- Provide a platform to develop a range of personal, social and industry relatable skills.
- A chance to showcase their knowledge and skills of sport, leadership and development, in preparation for your next positive destination.
- Give learners the potential opportunity, in due course, to enter employment within a wide range of junior job roles across the sport development and leadership sector.
With these points considered, the course also intends for each student to make new positive connections within their community and be a valued, effective member of society.
Fees
If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 and over fees may be payable.
There will be costs for uniform approximately £100. There may be trips associated with the course, although the majority of these will be optional. Any mandatory trips that may have a cost attached, we will do our best to let you know ahead of starting with us.
