College Governors

The Corporation of City College Norwich consists of up to 17 Governor members. The College Governors serve in a voluntary capacity for initially a period of four years although often go on to be involved with the college over a much longer period. Governors elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman from amongst their number. In addition to attending Corporation Board meetings, Governors also serve as members of one or two of the committees which undertake the detailed work of the Corporation during the year.

Under the Corporation’s constitution (Instrument & Articles of Government), the Governors are appointed to the Corporation by Transforming Education in Norfolk, the parent body of the Federation which the College is a partner in. Additionally, the Principal serves as Governor, one Governor is elected by staff and three Governors are elected by students at the College.

The current Governors of the College are:

Matthew Colmer (Chairman)

Matt has been Chair of the Corporation since October 2012, having previously served as Vice Chairman. He has been a governor of the College for 8 years, and is also the Chair of the Curriculum and Standards committee.

Matt has been an NHS Board Director for 10 years, and is currently Director of Performance and Information for Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust.  He is a qualified accountant, and has also worked within the NHS as a Finance Director.

Matt has three teenage children, and knows firsthand how important the right educational environment is for young people’s development and their ability to achieve their potential.

Andrew was elected Vice-Chairman of the Corporation in October 2012, and is Chairman of the Business committee.

I have worked for the University of East Anglia since 1991 in a variety of roles. Currently I am the Director of the Learning and Teaching Service and so am responsible for the administration and quality assurance processes associated with the delivery of all undergraduate and taught post graduate courses, as well as the University's arrangements with partner colleges, including City College Norwich.

Both my role and experience in Higher Education will help me in my role as a governor and benefit the College and its students.

I have recently retired to Norwich after spending most of my working life in Further Education. This included over a decade working in a college and many years involved in the world of vocational qualifications at a national level. I hope that my experience in vocational education will be useful for the college in the coming years and support its valuable work in Norwich and beyond.

I have been the Chair of the Curriculum and Standards Committee since November 2015.

Corrienne Peasgood

Corrienne became College Principal in September 2012, having previously served as the Deputy Principal Curriculum.

She has a clear vision of the type of educational environment that will provide not only the best opportunities for students, but also the right conditions for the whole College to develop. This broad perspective has become the signature for her approach to management.
