Courses designed with you in mind
We work with thousands of adult learners like you, including many who have not done any formal learning since they left school.
We understand that our adult learners are busy people who often have to fit studying around work and family commitments. Even at degree level, our courses are designed to make it possible for you to continue working whilst you study with us.
You can study most courses part-time, meaning you can continue to work alongside your studies and balance other commitments.
A welcoming and friendly environment
The thought of returning to learning can seem a bit nerve-wracking at first and it is not unusual to wonder if you will 'fit in' at college as an adult learner.
The good news is that you will quickly discover that you are not alone. We have such large numbers of adult learners saying with us, running into the thousands each year.
We pride ourselves on the inclusive environment and ethos at college. So, whatever your background, whatever your previous experiences of education may have been like, we are confident that you will feel comfortable here.
Supporting you to succeed
You will find our teaching staff are patient, supportive, and happy to make any adjustments that you may require to support you to succeed.
We are passionate about supporting students with learning disabilities and/or difficulties.
If you tick any of the boxes on the application form disclosing a disability or difficulty, we will discuss what level and type of support would be good for you.
Financial support
Studying as an adult is an investment in your future. The good news is that there are options available to help with the costs of studying, such as the Advanced Learner Loan (this may be available to you if wish to study at Level 3 or above).
Depending on your circumstances, you may not actually have to pay fees at all as your course may be fully funded. Eligibility for a fee waiver will be determined by our Enrolment Team at the time of your enrolment. The following links provide more information about student finances for those studying as adults (19+ years of age).

“For years, I put off doing anything about the fact that I had left school 28 years ago with no qualifications. Not only am I ready to take my next step toward what I want to do, but I am also able to help my son with his schoolwork with way more confidence than I had before.”
AMC - GCSE English
“I came into college nervous and having no confidence in my abilities to succeed and my tutors have helped me to start to believe I can actually achieve something.”
EM - Access to Higher Education: Science for Health Practitioners
“It was hard getting back into academic writing, but all the support was there. I found the bitesize nature of the course, and the length of the sessions, meant that it was all achievable. It was manageable to fit in around work and life schedules.”
