What You Will Study
Our Access to Higher Education Diploma in Sport, as validated by CAVA, is a qualification which prepares students aged 19 years and over, without the relevant qualifications, for study at degree level.
You will participate in an intensive period of study covering 15 units across 2.5 days a week at our Easton College campus. You will study a range of units including: Sports Psychology; Exercise Physiology; Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation; Sports Coaching Principles; Practical Skills; and Biomechanics in Action.

Entry Requirements
This course is open to students aged 19 and over . You will need to have achieved GCSEs at grade A-C /4 or above including English Language and Maths. A GCSE at grade A-C / 4 or above in Biology would also be beneficial, but a good understanding and ability to study science is necessary. A reference may be required.
How You Will Be Assessed
We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability. To make this happen, we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.
Assessment is ongoing throughout the year and there will be at least one assignment for each of the modules you take. These assignments may be written such as essays/research projects including presentations and there may also be examinations and practicals. You will take 60 credits in total, and 45 of these will be graded at either Pass, Merit or Distinction. The level of qualification is comparable to A Levels.
You will also gain a variety of academic skills including communication, research and study skills preparing you for undergraduate degree-level studies.
Course Progression
The Access to Higher Education Diploma in Sports Science is widely recognised by UK universities. If you are planning to study a degree course at a specific university, it would be useful to contact them to check that the course you have chosen is in an appropriate subject area and is recognised by the university or college. Please be aware that university entry criteria can change at any time. This course is also suitable to progress to employment or Higher Apprenticeships.
Students who complete this programme often choose to study a sports-related degree through City College Norwich Higher Education at our Easton College campus, or through the University of East Anglia.
International students whose qualification are not recognised by UK universities or colleges, and who are 19 and over, may also wish to choose this pathway as a route to enter degree-level study.
