Summary

The Level 1 Award in Coaching Weightlifting with practical day is ideal for individuals with a basic understanding of the sport who wish to develop coaching skills under the guidance of a British Weight Lifting tutor. Participants will learn coaching principles and processes for both adults and children, gain hands-on experience, and work alongside a more experienced, qualified coach (Level 2 or higher). The course focuses on assisting senior coaches and designing personalised training sessions. Will include an additional 12-16 hours of E-Learning and online assessment.

The course aims to equip assistant coaches with the tools to help beginners perform the Olympic lifts effectively. The method includes 20 exercises focused on the Snatch, Clean, and Jerk, which also double as assistance exercises, providing coaches with valuable insight into the application of weightlifting principles. The course will also cover additional strength training exercises, including the Back Squat, Press and Dead Pull.

Running for one day on the 8th of February 2025, 9:00-17:00.

Entry Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age on the first day of the course
  • Must have interest and general experience of weight lifting

Learning Outcomes

  • Assist a more qualified coach to deliver sessions in a club/gym setting.
