Summary

The Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner is a full licence to practice qualification which will allow learners to work in ratio on successful completion of the course. The course has 14 mandatory units to be completed at a pass grade. Each unit is assessed through a mix of portfolio of work to include written assignments, worksheets, posters as well as assessment of skills in an early year's placement setting. Over the duration of the course the learner will be assessed in placement on three occasions.
Examples of units to be studied:

  • Roles and responsibilities of an early years practitioner
  • Health and Safety of babies and young children in an early year setting
  • Promote play in an an early years setting
  • Support the needs of babies and young children with special educational needs and disability

    The course runs for one evening per week during term time for 18months on Thursdays 6-9pm + 250hours of work placement

Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for adults age 19+.
You will be required to hold a DBS Certificate to show you are suitable to work with children.
In addition to this you will be required to secure a work placement for 250 hours in an early years setting that will need to have a good or outstanding Ofsted inspection report.
As this course involves written assignments you will need a good level of English.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this qualification it will give you a full licence to practice and allow you work in ratio as qualified.
