IMI Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Body Repair Principles (QCF)

This course provides essential knowledge for body panel repair, working on a wide range of vehicles.
Course description: 

The programme of study includes repairing vehicle body panels, MIG welding and paint spraying in the spray booth.

Students will restore damaged vehicles and panels back to original shape and finish. Repairs are carried out to industry standard using the large range of equipment found in the College’s impressive body workshop. Also additional enrichment activities will include priming and painting a body panel in the spray booth.

The programme of study includes elements of health and safety, general housekeeping and industry standard body repair techniques including welding.

Maths and English sessions are also included in the course depending on your entry qualifications and vehicle body theory sessions in a classroom environment.


Entry requirements: 

Applicants should have two GCSEs at grades A* - D including English, maths based subject or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject. Applicants will be invited to attend a selection interview.


This course is ideal for you if you have achieved good GCSE results, or hold a Level 1 award and wish to prepare yourself for a career in the body repair industry.


Practical skills will be tested by a series of tasks within the college workshop. Theory knowledge will be tested by a series of online multiple-choice question papers which are externally set by the awarding body.


Academic progression: 

Successful students could progress to a relevant Level 3 programme.

Career progression: 

The course will help students progress onto an apprenticeship programme.
