Degree Apprenticeship - BA (Hons) Leadership & Management

Degree Apprenticeship - BA (Hons) Leadership & Management

Our Leadership and Management degree, validated by the UEA, has been developed in association with the Charted Management Institute (CMI). Students completing the full apprenticeship will be awarded a full BA (Hons) degree, Chartered Manager status with the CMI and a CMI level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management.

The degree is suited to those looking to begin or develop a career in a variety of management functions in the business or public sector. The degree allows students to combine work and study to gain a full bachelor’s degree. Eligible students, employed and supported by an organisation, may apply for the Leadership and Management Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.

Degree Apprenticeship requires an employer to agree to both fund and support the Apprentice throughout the duration of the programme. The Degree Apprenticeship route requires the student to complete an End Point Assessment, leading to Membership of the Chartered Management Institute.

The BA (Hons) Leadership and Management Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship enables employers to address their skills gaps and develop their workforce of the future where the training costs, including the degree, are co-funded by the government or can be fully funded by your apprenticeship levy. The degree modules are designed based on direct feedback from employers and comprehensive national research of management skills required to futureproof organisations.

This programme will equip you with the skills and strategies to deal with contemporary challenges in management practice. The programme has been developed in consultation with local and global partners and professional bodies, and has been mapped to Chartered Management Institute (CMI) standards. This allows successful students to apply for ‘Chartered Manager’ status with the CMI, after passing the apprenticeship End Point Assessment, alongside gaining an honours degree.

Duration - 39 months.
Most applicants will have A levels or equivalent commercial experience or existing relevant Level 3 qualifications and English and Maths at Level 2 (GCSE/O Level). Applicants without A levels or other Level 3 qualifications but with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in management may also apply. Applicants may be invited to interview or compete a personal statement.

All applicants will have to complete an online assessment for Maths and English at Level 2 when joining the course. In order to complete the apprenticeship all apprentices must complete or already hold a Maths and English Level 2 or Functional Skills qualification. The achievement of these qualifications is mandatory so applicants will have to commit to working towards gaining these qualifications– with support from the apprenticeship team – while also studying for their degree.

It is essential that all applicants have the support of their line manager as the apprenticeship will involve attendance at workshops as well as potential shadowing, observations etc. In addition, apprentices will be required to complete job-related assignments that may require them to have greater access to management activities. We or your employer might require a statement from a line manager supporting the application.
Levy payer – £27,000
Non-levy payer – £2,700
Our Leadership & Management UEA degree focused on academic, personal and professional growth and therefore offers a number of valuable progression routes. You could consider specialist postgraduate qualifications according to your own career aspirations. This could include Masters level study or PhD research.
As a newly qualified chartered manager, you may decide to pursue further Chartered Management qualifications.
This well recognised qualification will assist you in finding employment in the business and public sectors or, if you are in work, will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to your organisation and thus the possibility of progression into and through supervisory and management roles. Our past students have followed careers in marketing, personnel (HRM), accounts and finance, financial services, management and teaching.
