City College Norwich held its annual Apprenticeship Awards in The Hostry at Norwich Cathedral during National Apprenticeship Week, putting the spotlight on its most outstanding Apprentices and the employers who support Apprenticeship training.

City College Norwich returned to its historic roots on Thursday 17 March, at Norwich City Hall, where it turned the spotlight on the current generation of Apprentices and employers with its annual Apprenticeship Awards.

It was in November 1891 that the Mayor of Norwich, Mr G.M. Chamberlin, opened a new technical school for the city which was the forerunner of the Municipal Technical Institute and the modern-day City College Norwich.

Tito Clark, a business management degree student at City College Norwich, has launched a new branding agency with a distinctive mission: to help launch the professional careers of design students and recent graduates.

Mr Clark set up his Brand 21 agency after learning from friends that graphic design graduates were often finding it hard to break into the industry for which they have trained. 

First group of young people complete new BBC digital traineeship

City College Norwich has celebrated the success of its first 8 trainees to complete the 8-week BBC Make It Digital traineeship.  The young people were presented with certificates by BBC Look East presenter Susie Fowler-Watt at an event held at MINT in The Forum.

The new traineeship has been developed by the BBC, in conjunction with the Department for Work and Pensions, in recognition of the vital part that digital skills play in a huge range of job roles across all business sectors and organisations.

New degree course in tourism management

City College Norwich is helping to train  future managers in the tourism sector through its exciting new BA (hons) degree in Tourism Management.

Designed to be combined with employment, this 3-year course is the ideal opportunity for staff in the industry to develop their all-round knowledge of the tourism industry, and key management skills, during the off-season months of the year.

Aspiring entrepreneurs celebrate graduation with Dragons’ Den star

Aspiring entrepreneurs from City College Norwich rounded off the college year with a visit to London’s Freemasons’ Hall to celebrate graduating from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.

They joined young people from colleges across the country at the prestigious venue for an afternoon ceremony with Peter Jones CBE, whose charity, the Peter Jones Foundation, runs the academy.

All students collected scrolls from the Dragons’ Den star, while a select few received individual awards in recognition of their achievements throughout the year.

Award recognises Premier Inn’s support for Hotel School

The team from the Premier Inn in Norwich have been presented with an award in recognition of their support for the Hotel School at City College Norwich.

In addition to offering annual summer work placements to students for each of the last four years, the Premier Inn team have made an invaluable contribution to the BTEC Level 2 Hospitality Diploma in Hotel Reception.
