Professional cookery students and staff impress at world’s greatest culinary competition

Five professional cookery students and three chef lecturers from City College Norwich have won a bronze medal in the prestigious Junior Parade des Chefs competition at the British Open Cookery Championships. The event, which has been described as the world’s greatest culinary competition, took place at the Birmingham NEC arena.

Former world sailing champion to mentor Sixth Form Centre students

Two A Level students from City College Norwich’s Sixth Form Centre will receive guidance and support from former World and European Sailing Champion, Sam Brearey, after being selected for a life-changing mentoring scheme run by AQA and the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

Ellie Chettleburgh and George Watson were selected out of over 100 applicants for the AQA Unlocking Potential programme. The students were nominated by their tutor, Charlotte Andrews, who saw their outstanding potential and passion to succeed.

Apprentice Chef's debut leaves customers desperate for more!

Daniel Alden has been working at the White Horse in Chedgrave since June 2014. After having been encouraged to join in with cooking from an early age, Daniel’s passion for all things food has done nothing but grow since starting his apprenticeship.

Since the beginning of his apprenticeship in 2014, Daniel has progressed in leaps and bounds, citing his best achievement as having organised a ‘Desperate Dan’s’ fine dining evening. For this, he created the menu himself and organised the kitchen and chefs.

Musical theatre students receive unique performance lesson from local west end star

Over 30 musical theatre students from City College Norwich took part in a Les Misérables themed theatrical workshop led by local west end star, Rob Houchen. The one-day workshop, which took place on Friday 13th January, formed part of the rehearsals for the students’ special guest appearance in his upcoming show Home & Unplugged at The Seagull Theatre in Lowestoft on Sunday 22nd January.

Students take part in national Takeover Challenge

Over 80 A Level, Health Studies, Public Services and Vehicle Maintenance students from City College Norwich stepped into a range of job roles on Friday 18th November as part of the national Takeover Challenge.

Several different groups of students came together to take part in a takeover at Norfolk County Council where students got to see the inner workings of the organisation and debate issues relating to their courses in the council chambers.
