Supported Learning students help with construction of new boardwalk

Six Supported Learning students from City College Norwich have helped increase access for visitors to Burgh Castle Roman Fort, near Great Yarmouth, after volunteering to help with the construction of a new boardwalk.

The students worked with the Pathmakers charity and other local organisations on the project, which is designed to improve accessibility to this beautiful site of natural and historical interest.

Paston Sixth Form College in North Walsham is launching a public consultation to seek views from members of the community on plans for a proposed merger with City College Norwich.

Art and design students compete in Maids Head illustration competition

Four students from the Art and Design Foundation Course, at City College Norwich, competed to have their illustration of the exterior of the Maids Head Hotel reproduced on new mugs for the hotel’s bedrooms.

The competition was judged on Thursday, May 25 by Martin Laurence, Chairman Norwich Twenty Group (N20G), along with fellow N20G members Fliss Cary and Joceline Wickham, plus Christine Malcolm General Manager, Maids Head Hotel and Paul Youngs from Expert Print Management.

Outdoor Adventure students complete Norfolk & Suffolk based expedition that took them from Source to Sea

City College Norwich’s Outdoor Adventure students completed their Source to Sea final year expedition which saw them use stand up paddleboards, sea kayaks and bicycles to complete a 100 mile round trip over 6 days in Norfolk and parts of Suffolk.

The students traveled to places such as Oulton Broad, Gorleston-on-sea and Burgh Castle before returning to their base at Eaton Vale Activity Centre on Friday 19th May. In total, the students paddled 52 miles and peddled 48 miles.

Students create a new home for wildlife at City College Norwich

City College Norwich’s Ipswich Road campus is now even more welcoming to wildlife after groups of Supported Learning students constructed a ‘bug hotel’ which they hope will attract a range of insects, bees, birds and hedgehogs.

Recently rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, the college’s Supported Learning provision offers a wide range of opportunities within the college and the wider community for students with disabilities to develop employability and life skills.
