College Nursery is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted

29th February 2024

The City College Norwich Nursery, which offers year-round places for 0–5-year-olds, has been rated ‘Good’ in all areas in our latest Ofsted inspection.

The report provides the following summary of what it is like for the children who attend our Nursery:

Staff help children to feel safe and secure at this welcoming nursery. They are kind, caring and patient. Staff enjoy playing and engaging with children, for whom they have high expectations. They manage children's behaviour calmly and consistently, helping children to learn the nursery rules. As a result, children are confident and thrive in their care.”

Among the things that Ofsted says our Nursery is doing well, are:

  • Parents and children are warmly welcomed on arrival to the nursery.
  • Parents speak highly of the staff at the nursery.
  • Staff engage children in play throughout the day and provide support when needed.
  • Babies have a strong sense of belonging in the nursery.
  • The managers have developed a curriculum that builds on children's interests.
  • There are high expectations for children's learning and development, and the curriculum has a strong focus on children's personal, social and emotional development.
  • Staff expose children to new words to widen their vocabulary.

Our nursery has been established for over 25 years and places are available to City College Norwich staff and students, as well as to families with no connection to our College. There is currently a waiting list for nursery admissions.
